Indications/Contraindications for Colonics..

To help you understand the process of Colon Hydrotherapy better and what it does for you, I have taken some information from Edgar Cayce’s

‘Guide to Colon Care’..

Throughout the session of Colon Hydrotherapy, the colon is alternately filled and emptied with water to stretch the pockets and remove any accumulation of mucus and debris.  At the same time, the colon muscles are exercised, which, in turn, stimulates peristalsis.  This enables the blood and lymph to purify so that the cells can release their waste into a cleaner lymph.

Whenever there is water in the colon – no matter how much or how little,  solid matter is removed – a healing reflex action occurs in many parts of the body.

Eyes and face are particularly responsive to Colon Hydrotherapy.  The Iris and the cornea sparkle and appear brighter and facial skin often turns a healthy pink.  The results are even more dramatic when someone is so toxic that their skin was gray before the session.

Occasionally a client will be relieved of a toxic headache or a  chronic post-nasal drip will go away, and a person will no longer have the need to clear their throat.  Sometimes toxic symptoms will completely clear up during a single session.  However, it usually takes a series of colonics to eradicate the problem.  The possibilities for healing are truly limitless.

Whenever there is injury, disease or poor eliminations, circulation is affected in the body  and inflammation takes place. When toxins are removed, a load is taken off the liver and the body begins to detoxify at a deeper level.  The circulatory system is improved and almost everyone expresses how much lighter and cleaner they feel after the treatment.

After the Colonic

One can anticipate feeling more peaceful, lighter cleaner, and more energized.  On rare occasions, if there has been a longstanding condition of constipation or several health problems, a slight headache or fatigue may be experienced with the first or second colonic.  If this is so, a short rest will help restore one’s equilibrium.

Since the colon has been cleared of solid matter, it may take one or two days before it fills up again and normal bowel movements are resumed.  Some water is absorbed through the colon wall during a colonic, and one may notice an increased need to urinate for a few hours afterwards.  This beneficial effect of flushing the kidneys may also be enhanced by drinking a few glasses of water with the juice of half a lemon added to each glass.

A colonic has a profound cleansing effect on the body, and many people feel so good afterwards that they want to double their jogging or work-out time.  Caution is advised here, for it can be overdone.  Although light to moderate exercise is good if you are used to it, any strenuous activity should be avoided that day.

A light diet of fruits, vegetables, salads, soups or green smoothies should be followed for two days, taking care to avoid anything that causes gas.  Rich or heavy food, flour products, spices, and alcohol should also be omitted.  Although irrigating the colon does not remove all of the intestinal bacteria, it is still often helpful to take some form of acidophilus to maintain bacterial balance.

How often should one should have a colonic?

This depends on the diet, stress level, health, age, and how successful the colonic was.

An initial series of 3 – 6 or sometimes up to 10 may be undertaken

Maintenance Can be 1 -3 monthly, or a series of 3 or more at each change of season, or whenever undertaking an internal body cleanse, such as with juicing, or a raw food diet. Most people seem to know when they need to come again.

A Client shared her experience like this:

The first experience seemed uneventful, though my body was clearly the victim of a faulty diet, stress, and an overload of drugs from various health challenges I had struggled to overcome.

Having now been introduced to the benefit of colonics, a whole food diet and begun walking for exercise, the results of the following sessions were quite dramatic.  I not only permanently decreased a size in clothing, but for the first time my skin was now clear, my eyes shone, and there was a vitality I vaguely remembered having only as a child.

Cleansing the body is now a way of life I choose to pursue.  I realize it pursues me, as well, for whenever I veer off into old habit patterns, I am beset by the same warning signals as before:

  • Lethargy
  • bloating
  • melancholy
  • restlessness.
  • discontent
  • skin eruptions etc.

The contrast I feel when released from this sluggish build-up is not as dramatic as my first encounter with colon therapy, but the assured outcome of each treatment is always a restorative balance of calm and well-being.

A Colonic is an energizing experience, as one’s body is freed from the effects of its own toxicity.
